Welcome to Bologna! Bologna is where the first University in the world was founded in 1088. A city with 3.000 years of history. Etruscans, Goths, Romans, Lombards and daily multicultural exchanges shaped it through the centuries. Bologna, as a city we live today, was born on May 15th 1116. The city was the first in Europe to abolish slavery. This happened in 1257 and still today the motto “LIBERTAS” (Liberty) is part of the city’s emblem. Let’s enjoy the freedom of discovering Bologna together!
